William J. Quinn Obituary

William Joseph Quinn, age 86, of Keizer, Oregon, passed away peacefully at 10:01 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 in Salem, Oregon.
The funeral service will be held at St. Edwards Parish in Keizer on Friday March 22, 2024. Father Gary Zerr will be officiating the ceremony commencing with a rosary at 10:00 am, followed by a mass at 10:30 am and reception and celebration of life in the parish center at 11:30 am.
Bill was born November 2, 1937 in Somerville, MA, the first son of William Walter Quinn and Mary Margaret Quinn (Plausky). He was raised in Cambridge, MA and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1961. He became a Registered Professional Engineer in 1967.
Bill married the love of his life, Jean Helen (Duda) Quinn, in 1960 while still in college. They enjoyed 63+ years of married life together. Upon graduation from college, they drove across the country to Salem, Oregon where dad accepted a job in the bridge design division for the State of Oregon.
Surviving is his wife Jean, brother John (Kathy) Quinn, son Bill (Llonni) Quinn, son Paul (Rebecca) Quinn, son Jim (Jensine) Quinn, son Thomas (Heidi) Quinn; grandson Billy (Kelly) Quinn, granddaughter Kelsey Quinn, grandson Anthony (Jessie) Quinn, grandson Phillip Quinn, grandson Reilly Quinn, granddaughter Chloe Quinn, great-granddaughters Isla and Remi Quinn. Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
Bill worked almost his entire career (1961-65, 1967-1993) for the State of Oregon in the Highway Division in various positions and lived in Keizer since 1967. He was involved in many organizations and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Keizer Elks and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Over the years Bill was active volunteering on committees for the Salem-Keizer School District, the City of Keizer and the Keizer Fire District. He frequently contributed opinion articles to the Keizer Times.
Bill coached youth basketball teams, enjoyed taking the family camping and boating, and loved entertaining friends and hosting parties. His passions included gardening, golfing, playing tennis, listening to music and attending concerts, and attending mass at St. Edwards Catholic church.
