Warren James Hans, 98 years old, went home to the Lord on Thursday June 13, 2019. He was born in Ponca, Nebraska on May 31, 1921, to parents Henry and Hyacinth (Gobel) Hans. He was the oldest of 6 children. He left home at the age of 15 and joined the monastery as a brother. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame University on May 2, 1943, and while there participated in many athletic activities and was a lifelong sports fan. He worked various jobs, most notably as a teacher at an all-boys Catholic school in Taunton, Massachusetts and later enjoyed a long career working on the railroad for Burlington Northern up to his retirement in 1986.
He married Mary Teschner Wood in 1960. Together they had one daughter.
He is survived by his daughter Lara Hans (Mavraedis), son-in-law Greg Mavraedis, stepsons Louis Wood, daughter-in-law Jenny Keen Wood, Larren Wood, daughter-in-law Renee Wood, sister Charla (Riedl-Shindler) along with 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was a devoted Catholic and family man.
Funeral services for Warren will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the St Edward Catholic Church in Keizer, Oregon. Emtombment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery on Happy Valley, Oregon.
