Victor Gangitano, 81, "Papa, Butch and Vito", passed away on December 13, 2024 in Keizer, Oregon.

Victor was born in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1943. Youngest of 2 boys of the late Victor and Blanche Gangitano and late brother, Dominic Gangitano. He spent his younger years living back and forth between California and Pennsylvania. He graduated high school and decided to enlist in the army. He always said it was the best decision he made. He loved being in the Army. He was a military police officer stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Brigitte. After the Army, Victor brought his "souvenir" back home to California. Victor fell back on his Military Police experience and got a job with the Hawthorne Police Department. Victor & Brigitte welcomed their son, Dominic on their 11th anniversary which completed their family. After living in Torrance, California for 12 years, they moved to Keizer, Oregon in 1977 to set up a hardware store with his brother Dominic. Shortly after selling the hardware store, Victor started working at the Oregon State Penitentiary in the early 1980s he worked his way through the ranks until he retired in 2007 as a well-respected Captain. In his free time and well into his retirement, Victor enjoyed going to the casino with his wife playing slots into the wee hours of the morning. He was a great storyteller. His grandkids loved listening to his stories about the Army and his childhood. They would sit out on the porch for hours listening to him.

Victor is survived by his wife Brigitte of 60 years, and his son Dominic and his wife Tausha; Sister-in-law Terry, nephew Shay and two grandchildren Austin and Kyla. A private ceremony will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery.
