Stanley Eugene Brown

January 3, 1950 — June 22, 2025

Stanley Eugene Brown, 75, passed away on June 22, 2025, surrounded by family in Salem, OR. Stan was born January 3, 1950, in Miami, Oklahoma, to James Dale and Ruby Brown. The youngest of three, he rounded out the self-proclaimed "Three Musketeers" with his brother, Ron, and sister, Linda.

The family moved to Coburg, OR, when Stan was 8, where they lived with Grandma and Grandpa Brown and their large extended family. It was then that Stan learned to play guitar by watching his grandpa. In a large Southern family, pickin' and grinnin' is a long-standing tradition.

Stan attended South Eugene High School until enlisting in the U.S. Army at age 17, where he served in Vietnam. Upon his return, Stan was reunited with his guitar and bought himself a Triumph bike, which later was replaced by a Harley Sportster. Stan, along with his sister, brother-in-law, and a tight-knit group of friends, tore it up on their bikes until it was time to settle down.

Stan married L. Joan Lynch and together they welcomed, sons Justin and Daniel. Stan proudly worked for the local carpenters' union as a finish carpenter until his retirement. Though Stan and Joan eventually went their separate ways, their boys were their world, and they remained close friends until her passing.

Stan married his beloved Connie in 2013. Together, Stan and Connie lived their happily ever after, traveling and enjoying their beautiful home. Stan was an easy person to love; to know him was to love him. A gentle soul, music remained at the heart of his life until his final moments.

Stan was a true craftsman, restoring a historic home, building furniture, and, of course, playing guitar. His loved ones will forever remember him in his cowboy shirt and signature hat, maybe teaching the children to bark like a dog, singing Peter, Paul, and Mary's "Candy Bar Song," or solving problems in his woodshop.

Stan is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Justin (Lisa) and Daniel; grandson, Langston; sister, Linda (Greg) Spike; and countless others who loved him. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby, and brother, Ronald.

In the spirit of his favorite artist, Jackson Browne, Stan has traded in his tired wings.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at Keizer Funeral Chapel from 10 to 11 am. A memorial service will be held July 1, 1:00p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Eugene, OR. A reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Chiefs, 32817 Coleman Road, Harrisburg.
