Robert George Ross

Robert George Ross passed away at home, July 1, 2026, after a yearlong illness. He was born in Ellensburg, Washington, March 12, 1948, with twin brother Bill, to Robert W. and Mary Therese (Smith) Ross. Growing up on his grandparents farm, he and his siblings, Mary, Bill and Don, learned the values of loving family connection and honest hard work. Many happy and laugh-filled hours of stories from their growing up years have been shared.

After Bob and Bill moved to Roseburg to live with their mother and sisters Linda and Bonnie, Bob graduated from Roseburg High School in 1967. He enlisted in the Navy, serving aboard the USS Chara during the Viet Nam war.

On discharge he settled in Eugene where he met and married his wife Carlee Storment. They were married for 54 years. Relocating to Salem in 1974, Bob began working for Fisher Implement, now Pape Machinery. He became a combine mechanic extraordinaire, serving the farming community with pride and integrity for 42 years. One of his farmer customers told Carlee that they called Bob "the Wizard."

Bob and Carlee welcomed daughter, Jennifer, in 1974 and son, Jeff, in 1977. Nieces Dennl and Lacey joined the family in 1984. Needing more space, Bob satisfied his farming itch by moving his family to a hazelnut property and home. He gave his family some of that country life he grew up with. His nickname was Filbert Farmer Bob.

He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents, George W. and Alma(Menard) Ross, daughter Jennifer Winslow and brother-in-law Howard(Mary) Page.

He is survived by his wife, Carlee; son Jeff Ross of Keizer,OR; nieces Candy Newland(Chad) of Vacaville, CA, Denny Price of Springfield, OR, Lacey Wahle(Richard Harrell) of Springfield; grandsons Jacob, Andrew(Kendra) and Joshua, all of Keizer, OR; multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; Last, but not least, Bob is survived by his three great-granddaughters, who brought so much joy into his life, Paisley, Blayke and Rylee.
