Michael Lee Harvey (1973-2024) passed away suddenly in an accident in Palm Springs, California on December 30, 2024. Michael was 51 years old. Michael was surrounded by family at the time of his death and was enjoying a dream holiday vacation filled with fun and adventure.
Michael was the son of Stephen Harvey and Christine Straughsbaugh. Michael was raised by Tillie M. Hall and grew up in Gervais, Oregon. He was a farm boy from the age of 14 working for local farms in the Gervais area.
Michael married high school sweetheart, Sarah Henny in 1995 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salem, Oregon. Michael and Sarah raised their two sons Jordan Tyler and Evan Adam Harvey in Brooks and Keizer, Oregon. Firstborn, Jordan, welcomed Michael's two grandchildren; Ace Harvey and grandaughter Wes Harvey, both residents of Ada, Oklahoma. Michael was a Project Manager with Honeywell in Salem, Oregon.
Michael was often found in coaching roles in basketball and soccer for his sons. He enjoyed snowboarding, basketball, golfing, hiking, boating, jet skiing, and disc golf. Michael enjoyed time camping and exploring the great outdoors with family and friends. Michael was an avid San Francisco 49er, OSU Beavers and Portland Trailblazer fan. Michael truly loved his Henny and Harvey family, including his many uncles and Henny/Harvey cousins. He was close to his niece and nephew, Genevieve "Genna" Henny-Wolbaum and Jacob Wolbaum of Hillsboro, Oregon and enjoyed many trips with them. Michael's kindness, generosity, and love for his family, friends and co-workers will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He had a quick wit, engaging humor, and a fun personality that all of us gravitated to.
Michael's Celebration of Life will be at 4:30-7:00 PM on February 15, 2025 at Chemeketa Eola Location (Northwest Wine Studies Center), 215 Doaks Ferry Rd. NW, Salem, OR 97304.
