Margaret "Lynn" Wilson

February 18, 1921 — January 21, 2023

Margaret Lynn Wilson, fondly known as Lynn, passed away on January 21 just three weeks before her 102nd birthday. She lived a full and happy life of travel, music, camping & fishing adventures, and family. She was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on February 18, 1921, the youngest of four children. She and her parents later moved to Willamina where she attended high school and graduated with honors. She attended Northwest Christian College in Eugene. After college she attended Willamina Christian Church where she met her soulmate, Merle. They married in 1944, moved to Portland, and had four children, Gary, Bruce, Brian, and Carol. They moved their family to Nebraska in 1954 where they served for six years as home missionaries with American Sunday School Union. She contributed to the family income by knitting and selling dresses and sweaters. After moving back to Oregon they continued their work as missionaries and raised their four children outside of Amity. She taught release-time Bible class to children in Willamina during this time. She also assisted with coordinating Vacation Bible School, summer youth camps, and contributed articles to a monthly newsletter.
In 1977 Lynn and Merle built a Scandia log home on their property in Eola Hills. Many of their friends and family contributed their time and talents to accomplishing their goal. When taking care of the farm became too much work they moved to Salem.
Lynn enjoyed knitting, sewing, crafting, china painting, fishing, camping, and hunting. She loved singing and played several instruments. Throughout her life she and her family took numerous road trip adventures across the United States and into Canada. They also had the opportunity to travel to Israel. She and Merle would go on backpacking trips, even trekking over the Olympic Peninsula. She enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Seahawks and Mariners.
Lynn was preceded in death by Merle, her husband of 66 years; and sons Brian and Gary. She is survived by children Bruce (Patricia) of Renton Washington and Carol Covington (Tom) of Dallas; Grandchildren: Scott (Lisa) of Arizona; Toby (Kristi) of Salem; Amber (Michael) of Salem; Carrie (Austin) of Independence; Dwight (Christina) of Troutdale; Kristin (Patrick) of Beaverton; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and greats; and three great great grandchildren.
Lynn will be remembered for her kindness, love of the Lord, resourcefulness, and unending love for her family.
