Joann Effie Cnossen Osban went home to be with Jesus on December 14, 2021 at age 85.
Joann was born to Fred & Thelma Cnossen on January 12, 1936 in Bellflower, California. As a child, she was raised on a dairy and helped in the milkhouse feeding the cows. She played with her brothers in the great outdoors riding bikes or horses, climbing trees, building forts, and playing in the barn tunneling through the hay or swinging through the rafters.
Joann met her husband, Floyd Gilbert Osban in 1954 at Long Beach, California. They married June 29, 1955 and went on to have 5 children: Jeanine, Judy, Floyd Jr, Darlene, and Darrell.
Joann was called to be a pastor’s wife and and ministered to many in various ways. She and her husband, Floyd, an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, ministered in Southern Californian, Northern California, and Oregon. She led women’s, children’s, and music minstry. She sang; played piano, organ, and accordian; she was well-known for her love of story telling.
Joann was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a woman of many talents. She was a creative seamstress; she kept her children clothed and her grandchildren supplied with something unique that she had created.
Joann joins husband Floyd Osban, son Floyd Jr, parents Fred & Thelma Cnossen, brothers Freddy and Jerry Cnossen in Heaven. She is survived by her sisters: Marlene Wanyama and Jeannie King; daughters: Jeanine (Cal) Smith, Judy (Nick) Gasbarro, Darlene (Lloyd) Hundtoft; son Darrell Osban; 14 grandchildren: Travis, Jessica, Vinny, Rosa, Elissa, Adam, Amanda, Aaron, James, Emily, Lindsey, Kaylee, Nevik, and Neeko; and 11 great grandchildren.
Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was a Proverbs 31 woman; her children rise up and call her blessed. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 37:4. “Delight thyself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Joann was an example of a woman who delighted in the Lord, her God.
To celebrate her life, there will be a funeral service on Monday, December 27 at 1:00 at Lifespring Church in Brooks, Oregon. Interment will be Tuesday, December 28 at 1:00 at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
