James Metzker

Jim Metzker, 74, of Albany, passed on 5/26/2019 in Albany Oregon.
Celebration of life services will be held Saturday, June 1st, 1 pm at Journey Church, inside the cafeteria at Timber Ridge School, 371 Timber Ridge ST. NE Albany, OR 97322.
Jim was born in Boise, ID to Jim and Katheryn Metzger on January 10, 1945.
He went to school in Corvallis, OR. He married Dixie Dickerson on June 10, 1964 in Corvallis, OR where later that year their daughter Jenny was born. Then in 1966 they welcomed son John and then again in 1972 their last child. son, Zac was born.
Jim started Kings Road Construction in the early 70's where he loved
pouring all aspects of concrete. In 1979, due to the building recession, Jim moved
his family to their 500-acre farm in Lakeview OR. There they had cattle, chickens,
horses, pigs and sheep. For 7 years the Metzler's did their best at country living.
Supplemented by Jim's many trips to a booming Texas economy until the building
industry in Oregon picked back up again. Then Jim moved his family back to
Albany, Oregon where he started Mid Valley Construction Services in 1986 and
continued to have a full general contractors license until his passing.
You would often see Jim at many high school sporting events watching the local teams compete. He was an avid baseball fan and a die hard "Beaver Believer." With his fondest memory of being able to attend the College World Series baseball tourney at Rosenblatt Stadium in 2017. He always thought that every kid, regardless of economic status, should have a chance to place sports. If you ever had a conversation with Jim about sports you'd be hard pressed to ever get a word in and often times he'd talk to you until the sun went down. He loved attending Journey Church, as a founding member, started by Pastor Bob Thompson ten years ago. You would often find him randomly inviting friends, strangers, even the nurses and caregivers who took care of him in his last days.
Jim Metzker is preceded in death by Mother, Father, and Sister.
Jim Metzker is survived by First Spouse Dixie King, Daughter Jenny Kudna and Spouse Rick Kudna and their children; Son Ryan Kudna and Nick Brown; Son John Metzker, Son Zac Metzker, and Spouse Katie Metzker and their children; Daughter Alain Metzker, Son Hayden Metzker, and Daughter Londyn Metzker; and Son Jeff Stanek, born in 1963. Best friend, Pastor Bob Thompson, Journey Church.
