Longtime Gresham
resident, James Coppola
Jr, passed away peacefully in Salem from complications of covid, with his
family by his side. Jim
was born in Inglewood
Ca, moved to Gresham
in 6th grade and graduated from Gresham
High in 1967. He worked
for local and national
beverage companies as
regional sales manager.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Janis
Blanc, June 1969, they have three sons. Jim served
in Oregon Army National Guard from 1968 - 1974.
Jim enjoyed boating and camping. They spent summers on Detroit Lake for 20+ years, making lifelong friends on “D Dock”. Country tunes, Bloody
Marys at Norms and cruising the lake - this was Jim’s
“Happy Place”. He and the family also enjoyed time
at their beach house. Jim retired in 2015; he and
Janis settled in Salem. One of the biggest joys in Jim’s
life were his yellow labs - Riley, Reggie, Auggie and
Jackson. In 2013 he was diagnosed with Parkinsons.
Covid was too much for his immune-compromised
body to fight.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie
Griffin, sister, Pamela Coppola. He is survived by his
wife Janis, sons, Cameron,
Bradley, Kevin, and foster grandson, Michael
Sarver all of Oregon and
sister, Theresa Kilmer,
Az. as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be on
Friday, March 25th, at
11:00am at St Henry’s
Catholic Church in
Gresham with reception
following.
