Harry Leon Abbas
June 23, 1957 - March 15, 2026
Harry Leon Abbas, known as Leon to family and friends, passed away at his home in Keizer, Oregon on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the age of 68. He was born the middle child to Leon and Susan Abbas in Toledo, Oregon on June 23, 1957. He attended school in his hometown of Siletz and graduated from Siletz High School in 1975.
Leon joined the U.S. Navy in October of 1976 and served proudly for 4 years. He re-enlisted for 3 more years in May of 1982, and he was proud to be a submariner. After his military service, Leon continued to serve his country as a U.S. Postal Worker. Upon retiring from the USPS, he held several positions, including driving school buses and semi-trucks. Leon enjoyed his free time riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle for 'wind therapy', attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally several times. He also loved to spend time with family and close friends and was known for his karaoke version of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World."
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Dirk Abbas and Susan Marie Abbas Powell, his oldest brother, Ricky Allen Abbas, and his youngest brother, Dirk Leroy Abbas. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Abbas (partner Harry Walters), Leon Abbas (Janine), and Zachary Abbas (Megan). Leon is also survived by brother David Abbas (Sunnie), and sister Deema Ferguson (Lee). He was blessed with six grandsons, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Noah, Patrick, Landon, and Logan, and great-grandchildren Damon, Keynye, Mazikeen, and Omari. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Those who knew Leon well knew that he loved deeply, laughed loudly, rode his Harley fast, and defended his family, friends, country, and beliefs fiercely.
