David Lee Harrison, born on May 30, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 16, 2024, at the age of 68, in Salem, Oregon. David was a cherished figure in both his professional and personal life, embodying the roles of a leader, a loving father, and a respected professional with a remarkable sense of humor.
David's career spanned various facets of the culinary world, where he initially shone as a chef serving VIPs restaurants, and at institutions like Willamette University and the Capitol Building during Governor Kitzhaber's tenure. Transitioning from culinary arts, he founded a successful HVAC business, specializing in commercial and residential refrigeration, which served numerous establishments in and around Salem.
Beyond his professional endeavors, David was a celebrated poet, earning the prestigious Golden Poet Award in 1987 for his poem "No Man's Brother." His profound respect and love for God often permeated his poetic expressions, illustrating the depth of his spirituality and philosophical outlook.
David's legacy is lovingly carried on by his family, including his son and daughter-in-law, Justin and April Harrison; daughter and son-in-law, Malina and Dean Ford; the loving mother to their children, Michele DeHart; his brothers, Kevin Nehring, and Kim Harrison, and John Wright. David was preceded in death by his father, Gene Harrison; mother, Querida Childrie; and sister, Querida Rorhback.
