Billie Roberta Raleigh (Mills), passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 94 in Keizer, Oregon. She was born on March 4, 1929, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Billie was a kind and caring person who cherished her family above all. She dedicated many years as a cook on Tuesdays at the Keizer/Salem Senior Center, where she volunteered.
In her youth, Billie worked in the hop fields in Independence, Oregon. She later held positions at the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles and State Farm Insurance, where she spent many years before retiring. Billie had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including camping with her family, hunting game with her husband Leo and his hound dogs, reading, crocheting, and listening to country music.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Berta Wood (husband Jim), daughter Stevie Larson (husband Larry), granddaughter Mikki Hittner (husband Ron), great-granddaughters Tori Van Cleave (husband Jared) and Bailey Hittner, and great-great-granddaughter Ryan Van Cleave, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Hattie Mills, sisters Edith Prise and Ruby McElroy, son Rick Weston, and husband Leo Raleigh. Family was Billie’s greatest treasure, and they will deeply miss her humble heart, Friday night family dinners, and Christmas traditions. But most of all, they will just miss their “Bammy.”
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, at 1:30 pm at the Keizer/Salem Senior Center, 930 Plymouth Dr NE, Keizer, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to plant a tree in Billie’s memory (ALivingTribute.org) or a donation to the Mission in Salem is appreciated.
The Keizer Funeral Home in Keizer, Oregon, is assisting with the arrangements.
