It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), and great-great-grandmother Barbara Joann Kime on March 31, 2026, at the age of 93. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on February 24, 1933, in Gridley, Montana; Barbara was the daughter of Justus Robert Akers & Beatrice Pearl Akers. She married David Walter Kime in December 1950, together they had seven children. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Barbara was the matriarch of the family, providing love, wisdom, and comfort to all who knew her.
Barbara was passionate about gardening and had showcased her talent for multiple years as lead gardener for the Oregon State Fairgrounds. Her personal lawn and gardens were showcases for all to see. Her home was always open to family and friends, and she will be remembered for her hospitality, warmth, and her unwavering honesty.
Barbara is survived by daughter Deborah Metcalfe and husband Tedd, son Walter Kime and wife Angie, son Kenneth Kime and wife Kimberlee, daughter Justina Jolley and husband Robert. Grandchildren, Kevin Coleman (Deborah), Jennifer Newman (Walter), Keith Kime, Kirsten Kime, Melissa Kime (Kenneth), Adam Jolley and Josh Jolley (Justina). Cindy Rodgers and James Wood (Susan) and twenty-five great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Kime and her parents, Justus and Beatrice Akers; daughter and sons, Susan Wood, Clyde Wood (SIL); sons Ricky and Randal Kime; brothers and sister, Robert, Berle and Vonnie Aker's grandsons Kristopher Kime and Frederick Wood.
A celebration of life service will be held on May 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the clubhouse at 1177 Chemawa loop NE.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, her love, lessons, and legacy will remain with us always. We find comfort in knowing that her beautiful soul is now at peace, and her story continues through each life she touched.
