    Carolyn Joan Stevens

    June 15, 1943 - April 11, 2022

Carolyn Joan Stevens “Joan”, also lovingly known as “Uma”, was born to Junior Yarnell and Theo L. Mettie on June 15, 1943, and sadly passed April 11, 2022, at age 78. She was predeceased by her husband and High School sweetheart, Ronald Louis Stevens “Ron”, her parents, and brother Richard C. Cotton Jr. Joan married Ron in 1961 and in 1968 they moved to Keizer Oregon to raise their family. In addition to her fulfilling career as a Judicial Assistant for State and Federal Judges (most recently, and for nearly three decades, the honorable Judge Susan Graber), she stayed very busy supporting her girls in softball, horses, and swimming. She is survived by Carlos Herbert Grant, Kelly Stevens Frederiks (Scott), Keri Stevens Miller (Korey), Cathy Pearson Morton (Craig); grandchildren, Kody and Brokston Miller, Jayme Baer, Casey McNeil (Selena), Jessie Kiefer (Bruce); great grandchildren, Alex and Jerron Love, Piper-Grace and Jaeger Baer, and Waylon, Bayla and Wyatt Kiefer, and Sierra and Brady McNeil. The family would like to sincerely express their gratitude to Rita Staton-Grant (Carlos) for her care and support of both Ron and Joan to the very end and Samantha Smith (Bobby) for her care of Joan until her passing. Their dedication will always be cherished. In lieu of cards or flowers, Uma would love donations to go to animal charity or animal rescue programs in her name. Some suggested programs are: Salem Friends of Felines – 4155 Cherry Ave Keizer OR. Willamette Humane Society - 4246 Turner Rd SE Salem OR. Big Hearts Horse Rescue & Sanctuary Home – PO Box 701 Aumsville OR. A celebration of life will be announced.
