Alexander Farnstrom

Alexander Farnstrom
Co-Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer

Alex Farnstrom is a Co-Owner of the Farnstrom Mortuaries. He is a second generation Funeral Director and Embalmer. Alex has officially been working in the funeral business since 1994 and took over as manager for Farnstrom-Gable Funeral Chapel in November of 2004.  Alex is a graduate of Central High School in Independence and attended Mortuary School at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon.

Alex is married to Misty (Cyphert) of Independence. The couple now lives in Sandy, Oregon and have four childrend; Nicole, Marcos, Alexis, and Maurice. Alex enjoys sports (GO BEAVERS), car shows, traveling and spending time with his family.

In the community, Alex is a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Gateway Lodge #2411, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons East Gate Lodge #155.  He has also been involved with the Independence Monmouth Rotary International, Montavilla Kiwanis International and has been an assistant basketball coach at Talmadge Middle School in Independence.

Benjamin M. Farnstrom

Ben Farnstrom is the Co-Owner of Farnstrom Mortuaries. He is a licensed Funeral Director / Embalmer and is the manager of Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence and Keizer Funeral Chapel in Keizer, Oregon. He served his apprenticeship at Farnstrom Mortuary before going to mortuary school at Mt. Hood Community College. While in school he worked at Mt. Scott Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon. Ben graduated from Central High School in Independence in 1997. He Graduated from Mortuary School in Gresham, Oregon in 2000. In August of 1999 he became certified to perform eye enucleations for the use in transplants and research. He returned to Independence in 2001.

Active in the community, Ben has been involved with Monmouth-Independence Chamber of Commerce, LeTip International of Dallas-Monmouth-Independence, Monmouth-Independence Rotary and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #1950 in Independence.

Ben's wife Kelly (Prough) is from Sheridan, Oregon, She works as a 2nd grade teacher at Kalapuya Elementary School in West Salem, Oregon. They have two daughters together named Riley and Berkley.

Ben assists families with at-need arrangements, pre-arrangements, pre-financing and cemetery memorials and markers. He enjoys swimming, music, sports, cars, working around his home, and spending time with his family.

Ben is second generation Farnstrom Funeral Director has been helping Monmouth, Independence, Dallas, Salem and Keizer area families for over 12 years and is committed to serving those who put their trust in him and he understands the needs of the community.

Lindsie Patterson

Born and raised in Salem, Oregon, Lindsie graduated from Sprague High School in 2000. After attending Chemeketa for a year and serving an internship at a Salem funeral home, Lindsie was accepted into the Funeral Service Education program at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham. She worked at two funeral homes in the Salem area for the last eight years before joining the staff at Keizer Funeral Chapel on August 8, 2011. In addition to her daughter and step-daughter, Lindise also has two furry, four-legged boys. Outside of work Lindsie enjoys volunteering at the Willamette Humane Society where she has walked dogs with her mother since February of 1997 and spending time with family and friends. Lindsie's knowledge of funeral service is coupled with a kind and gentle manner.

Laurey Lee

Laurey Lee has lived in Keizer, Oregon for the past 30+ years where she and her husband Jim have raised a family of six children.  She enjoys directing the choir at her church, volunteering as a camp director for teen girls, researching family history, and spending time with her eight grandchildren.  She has been helping area residents make funeral pre-arrangements for the past ten years and is now pleased to be offering her services to both Keizer Funeral Chapel and Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence.  She is a licensed insurance agent and a graduate of Western Oregon University. She particularly enjoys visiting with area residents and getting to know them as she helps families make planning decisions. She says: "I really love my job and the wonderful people I meet!"

Brian Ireland
Funeral Director / Embalmer / Crematory Operator

Brian Ireland grew up in the Las Vegas area, and moved to Oregon in 2004 to further his education in funeral service. He has been in the profession since 1998, starting his career in Las Vegas. Brian has lived in The Dalles, where he served his apprenticeship, and more recently lived in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Reno, Nevada, learning many other aspects of funeral service, joining the Farnstrom Family Mortuaries in January 2010.
An Eagle Scout, Brian enjoys outdoor activities, off road adventures, working on his off road vehicle, and is an avid hockey fan, supporting the Portland Winterhawks whenever he can go to a game. He also enjoys spending time with his Boston Terrier “Brutus” and is interested in volunteering with local search and rescue organizations. Brian is also a member of the Keizer Rotary club, and sits on Eagle Scout boards of review to help Eagle Scout cantidates attain their honor.

Brian is passionate about being a funeral director, and loves the satisfaction he gets in helping families.

In February 2012, primary moved to our Portland location, but still stays active with weekly activities at Keizer Funeral Chapel

Sheba Dawn

Sheba Dawn has been with Keizer Funeral Chapel for over 4 years assisting in our care services. Sheba has been employed in emergency services work for
19 years and continues to serve in many capacities. She is the owner of Star 21 Inc; a Multi-Service company with one purpose-“serving from the heart.”
